There are different types of security depending on the interpretation of the danger to the person. It is divided into four categories: Z+ (highest level), Z, Y and X. These securities are provided to some high-risk individuals like VVIPs/VIPs/Politicians/ High-profile celebrities and sportspersons by the police or local government.
The Number of Personnel, provided as per level of security are:
in Z+ category – There are 36 personnel.
in Z category – There are 22 personnel.
in Y category – There are 11 personnel.
in X category – There are 2 personnel.
These given categories of security are provided by different agencies such as NSG (National Security Guards), SPG (Special Protection Group), ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) and CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force).
Z+ Security – This is provided by the NSG commandos who are equipped with sophisticated MP5 guns, and modern communication gadgets. Each commando is an expert in martial arts and unarmed combat skills. At present, Z+ Security is extended to 17 VIPs
Z Security – It is provided by the Delhi police of the ITBP or CRPF personnel and one escort car.
Y category – It is provided by two personal security officers (PSOs)
X category – It is provided by one PSO (personal security officer)
